Grandparents Australia

Grandparents Australia Inc. was formed in 2002 as a non-profit organisation to:

 ¨       Promote the role and needs of grandparents and grandchildren

 ¨       Undertake public awareness campaigns and research projects relevant to the interests and needs of grandparents and       grandchildren

 ¨       Liaise with the federal, state and local governments on matters of significance to grandparents and grandchildren

 ¨       Support member organisations

Action
In recent times Grandparents Australia has made submissions to a number of enquiries.

¨    Towards a National Agenda for Early Childhood         
A submission to the federal government supporting the development of an agenda for early childhood as a national priority.

¨     Tasmania Parliamentary Enquiry
    
A submission to the Tasmania parliamentary enquiry into the needs of grandparents raising their grandchildren.

¨      A National Commissioner of Children
    
A submission to the Federal Labor Party supporting the establishment of a Commissioner for Children and Young People.      

¨      Childcare
    
A campaign in partnership with other organisations to raise awareness of the need for better childcare provision.

¨       Enquiry into child custody arrangements
    
A submission to the federal government urging that court procedures better recognise the 
importance of grandparents.
