Background

Grandparents Victoria is a state-wide non-profit community organisation of grandparents working together with the aim of linking the generations to shape a positive future.

The needs of our families are becoming more complex and require collective action.                            
The support grandparents can offer is important to their own family and other families and will be stronger through acting together.

Grandparents are a valuable resource with wide ranging skills and knowledge.
They are part of every race represented in our society and come from all professions and are both rich and poor alike. They are the custodians of considerable wisdom, compassion and skills that should be better used to benefit society.

Grandparents need support in achieving the best in their role.
Just as the pressures on families are increasing so too are the pressures on grandparents. Grandparents wishing to enhance their role will benefit from joining other grandparents and developing programs designed to make the task of supporting their families easier.

Australia’s population is ageing.                    
The influential power of grandparents is considerable because there are increasing numbers of them. They can play a vital role by voicing opinions and reminding decision makers of the importance of investing in our society’s future through attention to the needs of our young people.
